Martin is originally from Karlsruhe, Germany. He played professional tennis, where he reached top 200 in the world. After retiring, at age 28, Martin went to work at Nick Bollettieri/IMG Academy training juniors and adult players, including future and current ATP/WTA players. He left Bollettieri’s to become a private coach for top collegiate players and touring pros, such as Mary Pierce. He then moved to Knoxville to work at Cedar Bluﬀ Racquet Club. In Knoxville he worked with both adult and junior players, coached adult USTA teams, and ran the tennis program for competitive junior players.
Before moving to Roseburg, Martin, his wife Elizabeth, and two daughters, Isabelle and Anika, lived in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, where Martin had a tennis academy located at Wild Dunes Resort and coached sectional, national, and ITF ranked juniors.
